Officer Michael Trojanek receives life saving award for heroic actions!

05/26/2021:

At tonight's city council meeting Chief Cimaglia presented Officer Michael Trojanek (IMPA Treasurer) with a lifesaving award for his heroic actions in saving the life of an elderly woman.

On April 12th, 2021 Officer Trojanek observed an elderly woman with a walker attempting to pick up items that she dropped on the BNSF railroad tracks while, unbeknownst to her, an Amtrak train was speeding in her direction on the track she was standing on. Officer Trojanek exited his squad, ran to the woman, and carried her off of the tracks just in time before the train passed.

Officer Trojanek's actions were heroic in that he not only saved the life of another but that he placed his own life in danger in doing so.

Thank you Officer Trojanek for your service and commitment to the Citizens of Berwyn. You made us proud!
